Big Walk supports crossplay between its supported systems. To join friends on another platform, have the host start the world, share the current Join Code and session password, then enter those details from the joining game. [faq]

Host and join one shared world

  1. Choose the person who will keep the save for future sessions.
  2. Have that host select the world’s player setting and start the session.
  3. Wait until the host is actually inside the world.
  4. The host opens Session Details to find the Join Code and password settings.
  5. Joining players use that code and the password to connect. A new session generates a new code. [faq]

Friends on the same platform may see the host in their friends-session list. The Join Code is useful when that list does not connect the two accounts. The Mac App Store version has no Game Center support, so its players use a code. [faq]

Check versions and platform access

Only the first two numbers in the game version need to match. For example, the final digit may differ between platforms without preventing a session. This rule comes from House House; it does not guarantee that any modded client is compatible. [faq]

On PS5, the store requires PlayStation Plus for online play. The Switch 2 listing includes Nintendo Switch Online for online play. Check the requirements on your own platform as well as owning the game. [ps5] [switch]

If the session will not connect

Recheck the fresh code, password and host’s loaded-world state before changing network settings. Version 1.4.9 made session passwords required; an older guide calling them optional is out of date. [history]

If joining still times out, follow the connection troubleshooting steps. When the host closes the game, everyone else is disconnected; return to that same host’s save to continue your journey. [faq]
